I am a Joiner to trade and although I enjoyed working in the construction industry, I wanted a change of career so made the not too difficult decision to launch my dog walking and pet sitting business. I’ve always loved animals and enjoy walking dogs so it made absolute sense to set up on my own doing something that I really enjoy.
I was given my first dog, a 6 month old Manchester Black and Tan Terrier, Reb, when I was ten years old. Reb came from Edinburgh Cat and Dog Home and he was my constant companion for 14 years. Over the last 30 years we have shared our home with two cats and three wonderful German Shepherd dogs: Cleo, our first in 1978, followed by Jade in 1993 and Jack (a great nephew of Jade) followed in 2005. Sadly, he was born with an inoperable cyst on his spinal column and a malformed cerebellum. His prognosis was not good and we were told by Glasgow University Veterinary School that he would be unlikely to make it to his first birthday. Thankfully there is no pain or discomfort associated with his condition and he continues to be a big, active, happy lad who has just ‘celebrated’ his 7th birthday defying all the odds. I have also looked after dogs and cats for family, friends and neighbours.
I’m certainly not an authority on all things dog, but I know what makes for a well-balanced and contented dog: love, kindness and consistency, routine and regular exercise in stimulating surroundings. I fully understand how a long and busy working day can leave you feeling uneasy or guilty about the time you are able to devote to exercising your dog, either before you leave for work or when you return in the evening, tired and ready to relax on the sofa. Whatever your circumstances, I’m here to help, so please do get in touch to arrange a free no-obligation consultation in your own home.
